I like London Met because there are so many different people from different places from all over the world that I can interact with every day.
With the University being in central London, everything is on your doorstep and there's always something going on. I am really benefiting from and enjoying my course because while I am learning all the practical skills I need, I am also learning a lot about working environments.
All skills
As well as making documentaries, short films and radio features, I have also learnt about scriptwriting, communications and researching skills. I feel that from what I am learning on my course and from being in London, I will benefit a lot in the future when I come to look for a job — there is no better place to work in this industry than London.
Hands-on experience
I am about to take part in Television and Young People, which is a five-day course held alongside the Edinburgh TV Festival, where I had to compete with 2,000 other applicants for a place. It was great to be accepted on the course - it is so hard to get work experience in the industry and this will give me a real boost. It is a chance to learn a lot and network. You can even apply for a six-month paid work experience placement at one of the TV companies. We get the opportunity to meet and learn from key industry figures - the speakers this year include presenter Vernon Kay, news anchor Sir Trevor McDonald and Jana Bennett, Director of Television at the BBC.
